06/10/07  Cummins South Pacific / TORGAS Scoop the Major Award for the Second Year Running
                  at the 2007 CVIAQ Apprentice of the Year Awards
 

The presentation of the Apprentice of the Year Award took place during the CVIAQ Annual Dinner and Awards Night held at Hillstone St.Lucia on Saturday 6th October and was won for the second year in a row by an apprentice from Cummins South Pacific / TORGAS. The awards were announced by Board Director and judging panel member, Mr Bob Martin.

The Apprentice of the Year Award is an annual award open to final year apprentices from the heavy vehicle repair, service and manufacturing sectors. The entrants must be nominated by their employer and are judged by interview with a panel of members appointed by the Association.

The award is held in high regard by industry and has a history stretching back over twenty-five years. The Apprentice of the Year Award has provided a unique showcase for the talents of our best apprentices

The judges chose three recipients for awards:

2007 CVIAQ Apprentice Of The Year

  Angus Short – Cummins South Pacific / TORGAS – Certificate 3 in Engineering
      (Mechanical Trade)

High Achievement Award

  Joshua Murray – The Brown & Hurley Group - Certificate 3 in Automotive
      (Mechanical - Heavy Vehicle Road Transport)

   Jason McMullan – Brisbane City Council City Fleet - Certificate 3 in Automotive
      (Mechanical - Heavy Vehicle Road Transport)

The prize value for the awards was in excess of $6,000.00 with the Apprentice of the Year, Angus Short, receiving a laptop, software, printer and tools to the value of $3,000.00

Both Joshua and Jason received tools to the value of $1,500.00 each.
