CVIAQ is proud to announce that Georgina Brown from Cummins South Pacific/Torgas was awarded Apprentice of the Year for 2010 at its Annual Dinner and Awards Night which took place at the Greek Club on Saturday 6th November 2010.
The Apprentice of the Year Award is an annual award open to apprentices in the final stages of their training from the heavy vehicle repair, service and manufacturing sectors. The award is held in high regard by industry and has a history stretching back to 1980.
CVIAQ CEO Brett Wright commented “Georgina is our first female awarded as Apprentice of the Year in its 30 year history and follows Simone Bange receiving a High Achievement Award in 2009. We are delighted that the industry has again acknowledged that even in one of its most traditional tradesperson roles women can reach the highest levels of achievement. Georgina is a worthy recipient and embodies all the qualities the award recognises.
Georgina is currently completing a Certificate 3 in Automotive Specialist and has also been selected as one of eleven apprentices currently undertaking the CVIAQ Industry Ambassador Program which enhances apprentice communication skills and involves them in community engagement activities to raise the profile and image of our industry.”
The presentation of the Apprentice of the Year Award took place during the CVIAQ Annual Dinner and Awards Night held at The Greek Club on Saturday 6th November 2010.
High Achievement Awards were presented to Mr Shannon Ross and Wayne Schoenauer, both from Volvo Commercial Vehicles Australia. Certificate of Merit Awards were also awarded to Andrew Rosevear from Lusty EMS and Lincoln Wild from The Brown & Hurley Group.
