23/07/10  New SkillsTech Heavy Vehicle Training Centre in need of Resources
 

SkillsTech Australia is proud to announce that its long awaited Heavy Vehicle Training Centre at Acacia Ridge is to be officially opened on Friday 13th August 2010. Thanks to additional funding from Federal and State governments, construction of the state of the art training centre has been completed ahead of schedule.

The key features of the 3,000m² two level facility are the large open plan workshops with adjacent classrooms, glass pedestrian areas facilitating clear view and IT & data available in all areas. The facility will be dedicated to the apprentices undertaking AUR and automotive MEM training qualifications.

 
The key equipment to be installed in the new facility and funded by SkillsTech Australia are:
 
Chassis dynamometer
   
Self contained engine dynamometer
   
Side slip and brake testing
   
Heavy duty electrical test equipment
   
Hydraulics and pneumatics labs
   
Lockable tool & equipment cupboards and shadow boards
 

SkillsTech is now looking to Industry to assist in a resource donation program to improve the standard of apprentice training in the new facility. Resources in most need and categorized into the skilling areas are:

Engine Skills
Current model key start diesel engines facilitating tuning and diagnostic skills
Range of current components eg. Particulate filters, turbochargers, common rail injectors
Current diagnostic tools or readers
Current OEM manuals (hard or soft copy)

Fuel Injection Skills
Common rail injectors
OEM fuel system specific injectors/components
In-line injection pumps
Rotary injection pumps
Control modules and sensors

Electrical Skills
Alternator sets
Starter motor sets
ECU, control modules and sensors
Lighting and lights
Warning systems
Gauges and components
AC components

Transmission Skills
Medium manual transmissions
Heavy duty multi speed hi-way truck transmissions
Range of clutches
Pneumatic and electronic control systems
Supporting tooling and equipment

Steering, Suspension & Driveline Skills
Set of current model highway truck differentials centres and tooling
Specialist design differential eg Power Divider
Suspension and driveline components
Heavy duty power steering boxes
Alignment tooling or equipment

Braking Skills
Air valves (all)
ABS components including modules and sensors
Disc brake components
Drum brake components
Supporting tooling and equipment

CVIAQ CEO, Mr Brett Wright, encourages all of industry to support SkillsTech in their efforts to up resource the new training centre. “The Federal and State governments have provided the funding to build this great training facility and now its industry’s turn to put up their hand and support SkillsTech’s resource donation program.”

The SkillsTech Heavy Vehicle Training Centre will be officially opened on Friday 13th August. All CVIAQ members are welcome to attend.
